We decided to visit the beautiful Ruby Mountains, about thirty minutes south of Elko, Nevada. This segment of Nevada is known both as the Nevada Alps and the Nevada Yosemite because on the east side of the highway is like the mountains found in Yosemite Park and the west side of the highway reflects the mountains of the alps. Late September was the perfect time for this drive as the aspens were mostly orange and yellows. A very relaxed and inspiring drive.

Before leaving this scenic beauty, we stopped for a few minutes so BooBoo could experience the mountain stream up close. I tried to take some photos from the middle of the creek, but almost ended up in the creek so decided not to push my luck as the water was cold. While it was hot in the valley, the mountain valley was comfortble with a light breeze keeping the temperatures down. Several nice campsites were observed, but unfortunately our Magic Machine does not have the power to climb some of the hills, other in second gear. Oh well, perhaps another time.
